6th Period

A lot of conversation has taken place around the subject of the effectiveness of 6th period.  Now that we are five months into this experiment, many of us have come up with some innovative ideas on how to best use them - both as local standards and enrichment.  What are the good things we can say about them?  What are the possibilities that would make them even better?

Recently, a teacher told me that most of you don't like pods. I have noticed that when humans want to say something negative, they often put an army behind them. It would be interesting to fill out an anonymous survey to see how many like it versus not like it. The findings are preliminary, but so far it does show a decrease in the number of local pods. We had problems, but we've tried to address them. Rather than dog the idea, why not embrace it and see how it goes? If you say it won't work, you are not truly trying to make it successful. That's not what a team does. A team wins and loses together. Many of you have coached before. What would you do with a player if they constantly undermined the plays? Are you a team player?
